It's not a new driver. It's not another YouTube tip. It's a structured improvement plan, with real goals, real practice, and real accountability.
The Philosophy
If you've taken ten lessons and your handicap hasn't moved, the problem isn't you. It's a system that delivers information without building skill. Every lesson at Better Golf Academy is built around four things most instruction skips entirely.
We define what success looks like before we touch a club. No goals = no direction.
Hitting balls isn't practice. You'll leave every session knowing exactly what to work on and how.
We track what's changing, what isn't, and adjust. Improvement isn't assumed — it's measured.
Range skills that don't transfer to the course don't count. We bridge the gap.

"The work you put in between lessons is where improvement actually happens."
— Hanju, Better Golf Academy

About Hanju
I'm a PGA Associate, and I've spent years obsessed with the question most of the golf industry would rather avoid: why is real improvement so hard, and what actually works once you strip away the noise?
Going deep into the craft of coaching has shown me what truly great instruction looks like — and how rarely golfers actually get it. Most golfers aren't the problem. The way they've been taught is.
Better Golf Academy was built to answer exactly that. The same pattern shows up everywhere: one-off lessons, no follow-through, no ownership. Golfers renting quick fixes instead of building a game they could keep.
Once I understood that, I built everything around fixing it. Better Golf isn't a place you come for a quick tune-up. It's for golfers who want to own their game — who'll do the work between sessions and commit to the long game of actually getting better, whatever level they're starting from.
Podcasts
If you listen to nothing else, listen to these four. They're the foundation — the ideas that reshape how you practice, how you measure progress, and what "getting better" really means. Everything else we do builds on what's here.

The 3 elements of practice that explain what happens in our brain when we do it correctly — and how talent is something we make.

Why what isn't tracked doesn't exist in golf — and the key stats that reveal exactly what's holding your game back.

Why mindlessly grinding balls on the range is lying to you — and the science-backed way to actually love practice.

The 4 things you need to be able to do before stepping on the course — and how to make your first round a success.
What Students Say
"Hanju is an amazing instructor. He's not just knowledgeable about all things golf — he's patient, fun, and tailors every lesson to your unique goals. Whether you're a beginner aiming to learn the fundamentals or an experienced player striving to break 100, 90, or 80, Hanju takes the time to understand where you want to go and develops a personalized plan to get you there."
"Hanju is one of the best coaches I've ever had — and I'm not only talking about golf. He has a deep understanding of the game beyond just swing mechanics, and thoroughly explains concepts that helped me approach golf from a completely different perspective. Our lessons fly by because of how much fun I'm having."
"I started working with Coach Hanju as a relatively new beginner, and he's made a huge difference in how I approach golf. He doesn't just focus on mechanics — he helped me understand how to visualize shots and actually think through what I'm doing. That alone made things click way faster than I expected."
FAQs
New to Better Golf or just curious how it all works? Here's everything you need to know before we tee it up together. Still have a question? Reach out anytime.
Not at all. I work with complete beginners picking up a club for the first time and seasoned players chasing a few more yards or a lower handicap. The Trackman data scales to wherever you are — we just start from your starting point.
Mostly through a Booking Link. You can also reach out, tell me a little about your game, and we'll find a time that works.
Bring your own set of clubs. Better Golf Lessons is built for golfers who are serious about improving — which means owning your clubs and getting comfortable with them is part of the deal. Beyond that, just comfortable clothes and golf or athletic shoes, and you're set.
Each session runs 60 minutes. Better Golf Lessons isn't a one-time tune-up — real improvement comes from working together over time, so we'll build an ongoing plan rather than a single drop-in session.
We start with a conversation about your goals and where your game is right now. From there, we hit some shots, look at the Trackman numbers together, and find the one or two changes that will make the biggest difference for you.
No firehose of swing-thoughts. No tearing your swing apart for the sake of it. No one-size-fits-all "method" forced onto every golfer. I won't overload you with ten things to fix at once — we'll focus on what matters most.
We'll meet at Fairway 24 in Aliso Viejo, where I coach using a Trackman simulator. That means we can capture real data on every swing — clubhead speed, launch angle, spin, carry distance — and actually see what's happening.
Nope. A huge part of better golf happens between the ears. Alongside the mechanics, we'll talk through course strategy, pre-shot routine, and the mental game — the same research-based ideas I share in Better Golf Daily.
It's everything. Real improvement doesn't happen in the hour we spend together — it happens in the days between sessions, when you put in the reps on your own.
I'll be honest with you: this is best for golfers who genuinely want to grow. I work with students who are committed to practicing throughout the week and showing up ready to learn.
Yes — every student leaves with specific, focused things to practice before our next session. You'll know exactly what to work on, why it matters, and how to do it.
