She went almost three full rounds without a bogey—then won with one to spare.
Linn Grant played 52 consecutive holes without a bogey at The Annika. Let that sink in. That’s nearly three full rounds of golf where she didn’t make a single mistake that mattered. The 26-year-old Swede closed with a 5-under 65 on Sunday at Pelican Golf Club, cruising to a three-shot victory over Jennifer Kupcho. The streak finally ended on the 18th hole when the trophy was already hers—her first bogey since Friday’s opening hole. Tournament host Annika Sorenstam summed it up perfectly on the green: “You made this course look easy. It’s not easy.”
The Childhood Dream Coming Full Circle
This wasn’t just another LPGA win. Grant grew up attending clinics run by Sorenstam in Sweden, watching her idol hit wedges to someone catching them with a baseball glove. “I started doing that with my dad, so thanks for that,” Grant told Sorenstam after receiving the trophy—the second time she’s accepted hardware from the Swedish legend. The first came at the Scandinavian Mixed, where Sorenstam and Henrik Stenson co-hosted. Now Grant is the first Swedish winner of The Annika since the tournament began in 2020. The circle doesn’t get much more complete than that.
The Turning Point That Wasn’t Really Close
Kupcho birdied the first hole Sunday to create a brief tie at the top. Grant answered immediately with a birdie on the second and never looked back. She had to grind out a 15-foot birdie putt on the fifth to maintain her one-shot edge, but the par-3 ninth is where she put it away. While Kupcho made her second bogey of the front nine, Grant rolled in a 10-foot birdie to stretch the lead to three. No one got closer the rest of the day. “I’m glad she was playing well because I think that really pushed me to play better,” Grant said. “And overall, I just had the thought of whoever wins is going to have a really good job.”
Dad’s Advice Proves Prophetic
Grant’s father gave her simple career advice that’s guided her since she was young: “If you have a win every year, that’s pretty solid.” She’s taken it to heart. This victory extends her incredible streak of winning somewhere in the world every year since 2020—when she was still an amateur winning twice on the Nordic Golf League. She’s now collected titles on the LPGA, Ladies European Tour, LET Access Series, Ladies Sunshine Tour, Nordic Golf League, and even the European Tour through the co-sanctioned Scandinavian Mixed. Seven different tours. Six consecutive years. And she kept the streak alive with just weeks to spare in 2025.
The Drama Beyond The Lead
While Grant was putting on a clinic, Brooke Matthews stole headlines with a hole-in-one on the 12th that won her a two-year lease on a Lamborghini Huracán. Two holes later, she chipped in for eagle. Those shots weren’t just for show—her 65 (which included scores of 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, and 6) pushed her into the top 60 of the Race to CME Globe, qualifying her for next week’s season-ending championship worth $4 million to the winner. Nataliya Guseva holed out from 109 yards on the final hole to also sneak into the top 60. Defending champion Nelly Korda, starting six shots back, closed with a 69 to tie for 15th—unable to keep pace with Grant’s dominance.
